Cabalgata de Reyes
Route: Plaza de San Juan de la Cruz to Plaza de Cibeles, via Paseo de la Castellana and Paseo de Recoletos
Every year, the Three Kings visit us to distribute gifts that are eagerly awaited by all children, a tradition that recreates the moment when the Star of Bethlehem led them to the Baby Jesus and at the same time symbolises the virtuous circle that sustains our culture, that of unity and respect between generations. The symbol of gift-giving goes far beyond a mere toy: adults pass on experience, values and care; in return, children give thanks, tenderness and smiles. This 2024 Cavalcade is a tribute to those grandparents who are always there for others, with all their wisdom and generosity.
The caravan of Melchior, Gaspar and Balthasar travels along the Paseo de la Castellana, led by an aerial dancer under a moving moon, giant puppets dancing for the public, the Star of Bethlehem with its own constellation of heavenly bodies and angels, fantastic glowing horses, a large articulated camel, seven enormous giraffes, the three royal carriages, impressive in design and colour, and, of course, the pages and all of the usual entourage, handing out sweets and good cheer to all the children of Madrid.
