Mocedades with The Municipal Symphonic Band of Madrid

Each year, the Christmas programme makes space at the Teatro Real for a very special concert. This year’s is sure to be unforgettable. Mocedades is a historic name in music in Spain and the Spanish-speaking world, a group whose melodies and voices have accompanied different generations for more than fifty years. The ensemble, currently led by one of its founding sisters, Izaskun Uranga Amezaga, remains a benchmark for lovers of great songs and vocal harmonies that stay in the memory. Mocedades continues to be an active group, working on new projects, unreleased recordings, collaborations with renowned artists and developing a programme of symphonic concerts in different countries, having already exceeded 200 symphonic concerts in the Americas and Spain.

At the Teatro Real, they will perform together with the Municipal Symphonic Band of Madrid, a true cultural treasure for the city. Founded in 1909 with the aim of promoting symphonic music in the capital, the band has also carried the name and sound of Madrid throughout the country, while organising educational activities and support programmes for young performers. It is therefore a source of inspiration and training for new generations of Madrid musicians. Its current director, the Dutch conductor Jan Cober, is one of the most influential and respected figures on the international wind band scene, with a style characterised by precision, musicality and the ability to convey emotion through performance.

This year, the proceeds from the concert will go to the Adopta un Abuelo Foundation, which supports older people by connecting generations and promoting dignity in later life. One more reason to attend this unmissable event.
