Neapolitan Nativity Scene
This Neapolitan Nativity scene was set up by Pilar Tobar González, who uses expanded polystyrene to construct the buildings and buys terracotta heads, hands and feet for the figures in Naples. She then paints them and makes the figures out of wire and burlap, giving them the appropriate appearance, and dressing them in clothes she makes herself. The end result is quite spectacular. She also builds the houses for the nativity scene and the characteristic urban landscape herself. She has won the gold medal of the Association of Nativity Scene Makers on several occasions. This year she has received one of the CANDIL PRIZES, awarded by the Madrid City Council.
